Kali’s increased appetite is making her very bold. I was a bit late giving her her tea yesterday evening. I was sitting watching something on TV and I heard Kali moving about in her cage so I opened her cage door. I do this quite often hoping that she’s come out of her own accord but she very rarely does. However as soon as I opened the door she jumped up into the door way, sat there for a while then jumped out of her cage and started to explore. As a treat for her we put an apricot under the coffee table and waited for Kali to find it. She took a few minutes to find it and then another few minutes to work out how to pick it up. It was just a bit to big for her bite but eventually she got it into her mouth. She carried it triumphantly back to her house.

This morning, after I hand fed Kali the monkey nuts that she has as part of her breakfast, she wouldn’t jump back into her cage. She obviously wanted more food so I picked a small piece of dried banana out of her food bowl and offered it to her. In her eagerness to stuff it in her mouth she grabbed my thumb as well as the dried banana and stuffed them both in her mouth. I didn’t want to pull my thumb out past her sharp teeth so I kept very still. Kali immediately realised her mistake and let my thumb go – although she was very careful to hang on to the dried banana.
