Playtime with Jaali is getting a bit rough. He loves to ‘fight’ my hands when he’s out playing. He will pounce on me and grab my wrists or nose round my fingers. He licks and bites me, especially if I ‘fight’ back.

He seems to know that we are playing and he has never really bitten me but lately his biting has been getting quite painful. He just seems to get over excited with the game and forgets how strong he is and how sharp his teeth are.

Jaali cuts his toenails

I have been expecting to have to take Jaali to the vet to have his claws cut. They have been getting very long and beginning to curl round on themselves. I didn’t want to try cutting them myself because I can never get Jaali to stay still.

Jaali has saved both of us a trip to the vets – he’s trimmed his claws himself. I don’t know exactly when he did it but the other day I noticed that they were very short. I checked them carefully to make sure he hadn’t caught them and snapped them but sure enough they were all cut very neatly. What a clever rat!
