After much trial and error Jaali finally decided that he would take his
medicine mashed up with his favourite treat – dairy drops. The
medicine was very effective and Jaali passed at least a dozen roundworms over
about a week.
The medicine only kills the adult worms so a second course is required to
catch any new worms which have hatched from the larvae which stay inside the
The worms have a very intricate life cycle and eventually end up in the
lungs. From here they are coughed up and swallowed back into the gut where they
grow into adult worms again.
To be completely safe Jaali will have a third course in a few weeks time.
