Kukurika has been back to the vets twice this week because her diarrhea
continues to get worse. There doesnt seem to be anything that can be done
other than try and find foods that she can digest more easily.
Kukurika isnt getting enough nutrient from her food and is rapidly
loosing weight and condition. She finds it quite distressing when the
diarrheas in full flow but she is still alert and interested in her food.
She continues to be very affectionate and wants to be cuddled but shes
stopped running about and playing.
The vet has advised getting as much bulky starchy food into her as possible
to give her the best chance of extracting some goodness from it. Part cooking
the food may also make it easier for her to adsorb. Fatty, oily foods are to be
avoided as it anything with a high protein content.
Kukurikas diet is dry hamster mix with the seeds removed, par boiled
sweet potato, cooked ordinary potato, white bread, shredded wheat and porridge
made with tea. She is also still drinking the Lactade re-hydration fluid which
has glucose and essential salts and vitamins. Apple sauce has also been
suggested.
If her weight doesnt start to go up there is only one way this will
end.
